Training for field associates for the work with returnees and other groups at migration risk

Training for field associates from Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Žitište and Subotica for the work with returnees and other groups at migration risk was held on 25-27 April 2017 in Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO). The training itself and field work are consisting activities of the project “Improvement of living conditions of Roma and of other marginalized groups, prevention of illegal migrations and supporting reintegration of returnees to Serbia” implemented by EHO in consortium with Swiss partner HEKS-EPER. The financial support to this project comes from Switzerland: from SSM - State Secretariat for Migration, from SDC - Swiss agency for development and cooperation and from the HEKS-EPER, and also from local self-government units in Serbia.

Training goals were: introduction into job description of field associates and working rules and necessary competences, resource mapping of local community and experience exchange in various solutions for concrete field problems and situations. On the first day of training, future field associates were addressed by Dejan Milisavljević from Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia. He presented: legal framework relevant for returnees, programs for housing and economic empowerment, the returnee admittance process, and the work of municipal migration councils.

Immediately upon training, field associates shall start their work in the four above mentioned municipalities, and their field work includes, especially: continuous information of readmission agreement returnees and other migration vulnerable persons about available resources and services, monitoring levels of accomplishing their rights and cooperation with local institutions.
